Lee Min Ho shares his experience visiting the DMZ while filming a documentary


"All the soldiers stationed at the DMZ were very young. I felt a sense of guilt," stated actor Lee Min Ho as he shared his experience setting foot in the Korean Demilitarized Zone while filming MBC documentary 'The Wild.'

On March 29, Lee Min Ho attended a press conference for MBC documentary 'The Wild' in Seoul. The actor took the time to narrate MBC's special project, documenting the natural scenery inside the DMZ territory.

He explained two reasons why he decided to embark on this project: one being his interest in documentary films, and two being the DMZ itself. Lee Min Ho expressed how he nervous he felt as soon as he arrived at the site.  

Working as both the presenter and staff at times, the actor mentioned how he stayed at the DMZ for a duration of 2 nights and 3 days. About his own upcoming enlistment, Lee Min Ho commented, "Like any other actor leaving for the army, I am sad to be parting with everyone; however, it will only be for a short while. I would like to work on as many projects as I can before entering the military."

Furthermore, director Kim Jung Min stated how Lee Min Ho decided to take part in the project for free, proving his passion in creating the documentary.

MBC documentary special 'The Wild' is set to air on April 3.

Lee Minho's 700-day Journey in DMZ

Actor Lee Minho met with the production team of  the MBC documentary 'DMZ, The Wild' on its 700-day journey and vividly convey the unknown ecosystem.


Actors Lee Min Ho, Kim Jin-man, Kim Jung-min, and Sung Hyun PD participated in a MBC documentary "DMZ, The Wild" press conference held at MBC in Sangam-dong, Seoul on the afternoon of the 29th.

'DMZ, The Wild' is a natural documentary that reveals the wild world of DMZ, the world's greatest temperate primeval forest, and the unknown world that has not let human access for more than half a century. "Tears of the Amazon," "The Tears of Antarctica," and actor Lee Min-ho introduce another survival strategy in the DMZ, the reality of paradise built on the forbidden land, and another battle that lives in the cold wilderness.

Lee Minho said, "I was interested in documentary, I thought that documentary was also a work, I got to know a lot of foreign BBC and discovery documentaries, there are various fields, and Korean documentaries were heavy for viewers. I thought that I wanted to make it easier and easier to approach, because I was offered the proposal and I was impressed with the series 'Tears'. "

Lee participated from October 2015 to March 2017 throughout the one and a half month filming period. In Korea, for the first time, the DMZ's wildlife was captured in the camera with the production crew, while the DMZ survived the cold, approaching minus 30 degrees Celsius.


Lee Min Ho said, "I have been curious about DMZ for 60 years, and when I was curious, I felt a sense of tension after arriving. He said.

This documentary was produced as a UHD with the production team of "Tears" in line with UHD countries in June. UHD broadcasting has a resolution four times higher than that of conventional HD broadcasting and can be seen in a vivid screen. The MBC masterpiece documentary series will be launched through a gentle screen and close-up ecological photographs, which were difficult to access due to the DMZ's place specificity and security issues.

Lee Min Ho Shares His Honest Thoughts As His Military Enlistment Approaches



While Lee Min Ho’s exact date of military enlistment is still in question, he talked about how he wants to film more works before enlisting.

On March 29, Lee Min Ho attended the press conference for MBC’s documentary “DMZ, The Wild” as the presenter. Not only did the actor narrate the whole program, which took about two years to film, he was also at the location of the filming to deliver important information to the viewers.

Lee Min-ho to present documentary on DMZ

LeeMin-ho recently wrapped up shooting the MBC nature documentary “DMZ, the Wild,” which is set for release in June.

The documentary, produced by the crew known for hit documentaries such as “Tears in Amazon” and “Tears of the Antarctic,” will feature the natural ecology of the Demilitarized Zone in Korea where the primeval forest flourished as the access to human has been controlled for more than a half century.

Lee has been participating in the program as a talent donation since October 2015. He accompanied the production crew while they shot some of the key scenes, instead of staying behind and joining only for the narration recording.

It is the Hallyu superstar’s first appearance in documentary as a presenter. The prologue episode of the documentary will air on April 3 and the rest of the episodes will air in June.
